We respect the privacy of your personal information. Personal information is information which can identify you, i.e. name, address, gender etc.
We may use the personal information you provided for the purposes of arranging and/or providing credit, confirming information disclosed in your application (including but not limited to guarantors), and for direct marketing of products and other services offered by Liberty Financial Services Pty Ltd or an organization we are affiliated with or represent. You have the right to request not to receive direct marketing material.
Liberty Financial Services Pty Ltd is pleased to provide you with our other services and also refer you to other service providers for the purposes of discussing and securing insurance or other financial products. If you do not consent to such a referral and our forwarding your information to the service providers you have the right to decline.
If you do not provide your personal information we may be unable to assist in arranging a loan.
What Information Do We Collect
Where it is necessary to do so, we collect information on individuals such as company directors and officers (where the company is our customer) as well as customers' agents and persons dealing with us on a 'one-off' basis.
We are required by law to identify you. The Financial Transaction Reports Act 1988 requires us to sight and record details of certain documents (for example, birth certificate, passport) in order to achieve 100 points of identification.
We may take steps to verify the information we collect; for example, a birth certificate provided as identification may be verified with records held by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages to protect against impersonation, or we may verify with an employer that employment and remuneration information provided in an application for credit is accurate.
We do not collect information about your political or religious beliefs, or ethnic background.
Liberty Financial Services Pty Ltd keeps a copy of your application in order to communicate with you about the application, and provide other services to you.

Requests for access to limited amounts of personal information, such as checking to see what address or telephone number we have recorded, can generally be handled over the telephone.
With regards to request for access to more substantial amounts of personal information, such as details of what is recorded in your loan file, we will require you to complete and sign a “Request for Access to Personal Information Under the National Privacy Principles”, this form is available from our office.
Where we hold your personal information in conjunction with that of another individual or individuals, (e.g. where you jointly conduct an account), we will allow each individual access to their own personal information and to the joint information (e.g. account balances and transaction details) but not to the personal information of the other individual(s).
We may disclose personal information about you as required by law, for example, when we are served with a court order, (we may also be required by a Government Agency to produce information and records, for example, pursuant to taxation or social security laws) or to any organization involved with providing credit to you, or any other associates or contractors of Liberty Financial Services, including, for example printing houses, mail houses, lawyers, accountants or people considering acquiring or taking an interest in our business or our assets.
We may disclose personal information to any industry body, tribunal, court or otherwise in connection with any complaint regarding the approval or management of your loan – for example if a complaint is lodged about us or the lender.
Safety of Personal Information
We will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information by storing it in a secure environment. We will also take reasonable steps to protect any personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorized access.

We offer a free internal complaint resolution scheme to all of our customers. Our customers also have free access to an external dispute resolution scheme.

Use and disclosure of personal information
PLAN Australia maintains a database of its Members and their Loan Consultants, for the purpose of tracking and making payments of Members’ and Loan Consultants’ commissions. Details from this database may be released to relevant lending institutions, and to PLAN Australia’s Trustee to administer the commission system.
PLAN Australia collects limited personal information about its Members’ and their Loan Consultants’ clients, in order to track and make payment of Members’ and their Loan Consultants’ commissions relating to those clients. In some cases, PLAN Australia collects limited personal information about its Members’ and their Loan Consultants’ Referrers and certain other third party business contacts, also in order to track and make payment of commissions. In some cases, PLAN Australia also collects limited personal information about its Members’ and their Loan Consultants’ administrative staff in order for those staff to be given access to loan lodgement and commission payments information as requested by the Member. Clients’, Referrers’, third party business contacts’ and administrative staff’s details are not generally disclosed outside PLAN Australia.
Rights of Access
Any personal information held by PLAN Australia can be accessed by the Individual. Because our members may hold more client personal information than is supplied to us, clients may in some cases be referred to the PLAN Australia member who dealt with the application.
